I have just poked around and it looks like most of them are back online?
I run a tobacco related subreddit (cigars) and we are technically NSFW, presumably to stop ads running on the sub?
Anyway, the tobacco subs occasionally get this "closed for lack of moderation" message when someone from reddit is doing an investigation into something.
In our case organising private sales or trades via reddit is against their TOS, which we (mods) enforce by removing posts trying to sell or trade. However they also don't like it if someone posts whatsapp or other chat links to places where trading might happen. Last time we got that "closed for lack of moderation" message it was down to a whatsapp link that stayed up too long.
I know they do this with porn subs as well, but I'm unsure what the exact criteria for triggering it is, must be some behaviour they don't like going unmoderated.
At any rate, I would guess maybe this was a fuckup with some automated system? I don't know that they could properly "investigate" all these subs in one go?
Investors are going to demand that reddit only consists of cute animal subs with a new Tiktok-alike vertical video feature that gives users the ability to overlay awful music and TTS.
I'm actually surprised it took this long, if this is a firm direction.
Freedom of speech is important as long as you're spouting misinformation, but heaven forbid you agree with the liberal agenda or reveal how babies are made.
Seems like they're protecting themselves from the current administration. Wonder if they'll say anything on this or if they're hoping it slides under the radar.

It was a "bug" that has since been "fixed": https://old.reddit.com/r/ModSupport/comments/1ii67mt/communi...
>this was due to a bug and these bans have been reversed. Appreciate the patience

Can AT Protocol support threads and topics?
The porn ID verification laws in many states is/was an obvious problem.
Some of the listed subs appear to be back up. I went through some of the big ones on that list, and they seemed to be available again.
'banned due to being unmoderated' is a blatant lie.
I noticed a couple of subs earlier that I read had been banned with this false message.
A related SRD thread correlates that 'unmoderated' wasn't factual for all of these subs.

It's the standard lie when they need to install ideologically correct janitors. I woder how much it would cost to just buy the place.
Porn, drugs, lgbt topics. Feels like a great chill is settling in online.

Or... call for the doxing, torture, and execution of government employees.
Right that's what you do. I bet you are the biggest proponent of banning speech on reddit. Speech that you don't like.
